TEAS Exam Day What to Bring: The Ultimate Checklist

Why exam-day logistics deserve serious attention

You might think the hard part is over once you get content down. Testing facilities actually have very tight, non-negotiable standards and the proctors are not allowed to make exceptions, even for honest mistakes. A name that doesn't match the ID, an expired form of identification, or an unpaid debt might lead to rejected admittance, forfeited exam fees, and weeks of delay before a program application deadline. Those who walk into the test confident are those who treat exam-day preparation as seriously as they treat topic review. Those who scurry in the parking lot do not.

The Essentials: Must Haves

1. Government provided valid photo ID This is the number one reason folks are turned away. Your ATI registration name must match perfectly with your name on your ID. Acceptable forms are generally a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Student IDs and credit cards won’t cut it. Make sure your ID and registration info match up the day before test day, not the morning of, especially if you’ve just changed your name (via marriage or other legal circumstances).

2. Your registration number or confirmation e-mail Have a hard or electronic copy of your appointment confirmation that is readily accessible to you. Some testing centers will search this up themselves, but having it on hand minimizes delays if their system is slow or if there is any confusion regarding your registration information.

3. Proof of Payment (if applicable) If you registered through your school and there is any issue about whether you paid the exam cost, bring proof that shows your account is clear. Test-takers have been sent away for having outstanding balances even when they came on time.

What You May Bring and What You May Not

Testing places are often rigorous about personal items, so bring as little as possible.

Allowed:

You may not bring the following into the testing room:

You remove a whole category of exam day tension and concern regarding locker or storage availability by leaving belongings at home instead of intending to store them.

Problem’s One May Face and Their Solutions

Problem: Lost and running late because you don’t know the instructions or where to park. Make it a point to drive to the testing center at least once before, preferably at the same time as your appointment, to get used to the traffic and parking situation. Most facilities will want you to check-in 15-30 minutes before to your planned time and being late could mean losing your slot altogether.

Problem: ID name does not match. Solution: Compare your ID and your ATI registration character by character at least one week earlier. If there is any disagreement rectify it via ATI’s support system way before test day (corrections are not usually quick).

Problem: Test day anxiety is distracting. Solution: Eat a healthy meal beforehand, bring a light layer to adjust for warmth, and get there early enough that you’re not hurrying. The effect on performance in the first segment of the exam of arriving coolly and unhurriedly is quantifiable.

Problem: Uncertainty about policies of testing center. Solution: Call the testing center in question 24–48 hours ahead of time, or check its website. Policies can vary a little depending on location, especially concerning storage, breaks and acceptable ID.

One last checklist before the exam

Before your exam night, make sure you have:

The TEAS exam already requires a lot from test-takers in terms of material mastery. There's no reason to let a solvable logistical issue ruin that prep. Separating exam-day readiness from academic review into its own checklist reduces unnecessary risk and gives students one less item to worry about when they arrive at the testing facility — allowing them to be fully focused on the exam itself.
